13:20: Meet and greet our local guide at the meeting point.
13:30: Transfer to Dong Dieng Village, a remote village located 9km from the center of Pù Luông. Begin your adventure with a 3km jungle trek. You will start at an elevation of ~620 meters above sea level, descending to Kho Muong Village at 280 meters. Trekking shoes are well prepared.
Along the way, you will pass remote houses and see how locals survive deep in the jungle, how they access water, electricity, and even connect with the outside world using simple TV technology. Follow the trails and streams down to Kho Muong, an isolated village nestled in a peaceful valley.
Here, you will learn about local education in a village of 64 families. If your timing is right, you might meet local children and see how they learn numbers, letters, and basic knowledge for life.
Next, walk through the village to reach the largest cave in Pù Luông. What will impress you most is the massive cave ceiling, over 100 meters high, with countless stalactites hanging down. Pu Luong is known as one of the largest nature reserves in Vietnam, filled with limestone mountains and Bat Cave is a remarkable example, with evidence of ancient human life dating back thousands of years.
The most challenging part is the ascent out of the village climbing up to 850 meters. Follow your guide through the trail to Bảng Village, one of the most scenic villages with iconic rice terraces.
During the trek, explore the iconic rice fields and visit typical local houses to see how real life happens here. Enjoy a cup of tea and don’t be surprised if you are offered a sip of homemade rice wine. The Taidam people here are known for their warmth and hospitality.
